MANILA, Philippines - Janelle Mae Frayna bowed to Hulkar Tokhirjanova while Joseph Turqueza absorbed his second straight setback in the World Junior and Junior Girls Chess Championships in South India Wednesday.
Frayna, who hurdled her first round match, lost her queen for a rook when she blundered on the 28th and resigned two moves later, dropping to joint 20th with one point.
Turqueza, on the other hand, lost to Indian Chaithanyaa K.G., his second straight. He tries to snap out of a skid when he plays Abhilash Reddy ML of India in the third round.
Frayna, meanwhile, tries to recover lost grounds as she takes on Imee Aisa of Russia.
