Talk n Text Tropang Texters vs Brgy. Ginebra Kings

-

The Tropang Texters showed one more time their superiority over Barangay Ginebra Kings, pulling off a 102-90 win that sealed their entry into the PBA Governors Cup finals at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Kings (7-5), the Alaska Milk Aces (7-5), the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters (6-5) and the Petron Blaze Boosters (6-5) are four teams left to dispute the rights to challenge the Texters in the best-of-seven title playoff.

“Before the game, we talked about how these guys have come a long way. We had our heartaches and near misses. Now we hold our destiny in our hand and none other has that. We told ourselves let’s take advantage of this opportunity and not let it go. The guys responded unbelievably,” said Talk n Text coach Chot Reyes.

The Texters torched the Kings with a 15-of-34 three-point shooting and surged to the finals with a chance to be the fourth franchise in league history to complete a grand slam championship.

“We’re happy to be in the finals but our job isn’t done. We achieved 50 percent of the job. The real hard work begins,” said Reyes.

With six players scoring at least 10 points, Talk n Text dominated Ginebra, racing to a 54-36 halftime lead and refusing to look back.

Scottie Reynolds fired six triples and finished with a total of 25 points with Kelly Williams adding double-double numbers with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
