Cavite solon, Ayuyao to grace AKOC rites

MANILA, Philippines - Rep. Roy Loyola (5th District, Cavite) and Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) national steward Dennis Ayuyao will grace the opening ceremony as  guests-of-honor today in the second leg of the 2011 Asian Karting Open Championship (AKOC) set July 28-31 at the Carmona Racetrack.

The two will keynote the simple rites at 12 noon, together with Asian Karting Open Championship managing director Johnny Tan and Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) motorsports committee chairman Mandy Eduque.

A parade of nations featuring the best karters from 10 participating countries will commence the affair just before the pre-final and final races of this prestigious event sanctioned by the Commission International de Karting (CIK) and the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) and sponsored by Petron, San Miguel Corporation, Yokohama Tires, Denso Iridium Power, Vivere Hotel and Motorstar Eastway, and supported by the Philippine Sports Commission.

Three top karters – 2010 Junior Karter of the Year Roby Benito, 2010 AKOC International Overall F125 Junior Open champion Yasuo Senna Iriawan of Indonesia and 2010 AKOC International overall Mini-ROK first runner-up Daim Bim Hishammudin of Malaysia were picked to deliver the oath of sportsmanship.

that will showcase Filipino culture to the foreign visitors while Eduque will declare the race open.

A total of 96  karters from 30 participating teams will plunge into action as they gun for the titles in the Formula 125 Open Seniors, Formula 125 Open Juniors, Formula Open Veteran, Mini-ROK, Yamaha Expert, Yamaha Novice, SQ Expert, SQ Novice and SQ Cadet classes.

Marcelo will lead the Philippine campaign in the premiere Formula 125 Open Senior class together with Juha Turalba and Roby Benito of One Racing Team, Vencer John Suba and Milo Rivera of FERN-C Racing, Fernando Villalon and Joseph Castelar of AUTS Racing, Alessandra Madrigal of Alessandra Racing, Arvin Drueco of Kart Plaza and Archim Lagman of RP-1.

Among the top foreign contenders for  the said title are Indonesians Senna Sulaiman Noor of Kosmic Racing Japan and Christian Silvano of Red White Racing, Singapore’s Andrew Tang of Kartronix International, Andersen Martono, and Sean Tang of KartMaster and Kittitat Vongprai of CRG-Thailand.

The other foreign favorites are Arjun Maini of Gautam Maini Team -India, Sasakorn Chaimongkol of Maxima Motorsports-Thailand, Timothy Yeo of IRU 1 Racing-Malaysia in the Formula 125 Open Junior; Malaysian Freddy Numan Lawan in the Formula Open Veteran; and Thailand’s Veravich Wongsanganan and Sasint Kongpatanakul of Maxima Motorsports in the Mini-ROK division
