MANILA, Philippines - Filipina karting sensation Sacha Feliciano is set to see action today in the second round of the Asian Karting Open Championship at the Carmona Race Track in Cavite.
The 17-year-old 11th grader at the Beacon Academy is a favorite in the highly competitive Yamaha Cup, wherein she will go up against the best karters of the country.
A charmer on and off the circuit, Feliciano joined the Petron Karting Series in 2010 when, on her first year, she posted several victories in the Yamaha Cup and seemed on her way to taking the championship until she broke a collarbone during an accident in testing that forced her to withdraw from the series.
She returned to the sport early this year and is currently running second in the Novice division. Yesterday, she posted the second fastest time overall and is expected to pose a serious challenge for the top of the podium.
“I’m excited about the race and I’m looking forward to doing well in the final,” Feliciano said while flashing her signature smile that has earned her many fans on the track. According to Feliciano’s team manager and coach, Edgen Dy-Liacco, “Sacha’s results are promising and I’m optimistic about her chance not only this weekend but also for the series.”
