Manila, Philippines - The National Federation of Gamefowl Breeders (NFGB), organizer of the annual National Bakbakan Stag Derby, recently donated 30 gamefowl trios in support of a fund-raising medical mission in South Cotabato.
NFGB president Ricoy Palmares Jr. said all 30 presidents of breeders associations affiliated with NFGB pitched in their donations in the auction held during the Tinalak Agro Trade Fair in Tupi, South Cotabato last July 14.
Proceeds of the auction, which reached P390,000, will be used to support the “Operation Hair Lip” spearheaded by Gov. Dodo Pingoy of South Cotabato.
The Shelton roundhead of Victor Sierra, president of Central Visayas Gamefowl Breeders Association, garnered the highest bid of P50,000.
“Aside from raising funds, the auction aims to upgrade the quality of local materials, so the bid starts at a give-away price of P5,000,” said NFGB executive director Arnel Anonuevo.
