MANILA, Philippines - Ping Golf is taking putter fitting to a higher level to help golfers play their best as it launches a new software that will analyze strokes and match those to specific putters.
The putter fitting software can be downloaded free-of-charge from the iTunes App Store for the iPhone 4 and the smaller iPod touch (4th generation). These are the only mobile devices that contain both accelerometers and gyroscopes – the key technology features that allow iPING to measure and record data.
The accelerometers measure linear acceleration while the gyroscopes detect rotational speed.
The iPING app allows golfers to self-analyze their putting strokes more closely than ever. It works like a launch monitor for putters by measuring key aspects of putting strokes and helps every level of golfer to see better results by adding more consistency on the putting green.
The iPing app also displays a golfer’s consistency onscreen using three criteria: type of stroke which influences the rotation of the putter face during the forward stroke, impact angle which is the putter’s face angle at impact measured in degrees, and tempo which is a measure of the duration of the backswing relative to the forward stroke.
The PING Cradle works in conjunction with the iPING app, holds the mobile device and clips securely onto the putter shaft just below the grip.
The Cradle is available at PING authorized resellers, including Golf Depot, Red Golf, Orchard Golf Club and Wack Wack Golf and Country Club.
