Buenavista tops Manila Bay run
MANILA, Philippines - Eduardo Buenavista and Mary Grace de los Santos dominated their respective divisions to rule the 21-km races in the Manila Bay Clean-Up Run from the CCP Complex to the US Embassy, SM Mall of Asia and back.
Buenavista beat veteran Kenyan campaigner James Talam to pocket the top P20,000 purse in the men’s side of the event put up by Manila Broadcasting Company to raise funds for cleaning up our coastal marine resources.
De Los Santos, meanwhile, topped the ladies category with May Anne Barcena completing a 1-2 finish by the Filipinos
Kenyan Fleris Toyhu came in third.
Julius Sermona and Mercedita Fetalvero, meanwhile, prevailed in the 10-km run while Mervin Duarte and Llewelyn Tumbaga topped the 5-km category.
John Ray Moreno and Mary Anne de la Cruz ruled the 3-km fun run that drew nearly 2,000 participants.
PhilHealth, fielding 200 runners, won the award for biggest delegation.
The Manila Bay Clean-Up Run was supported by Smart Communications, Pharex, Summit Mineral Water, Enervon Multi-vitamins, M. Lhuillier, Alaska, Cobra Energy Drink, and the Business Mirror Publication Group.
