Manila, Philippines - Davao-native Vincent Floirendo will push for his fourth straight triumph as the 2011 Yokohama Philippine GT Championship Series returns this Sunday at the Clark International Speedway.
Floirendo needed the crucial win to firm up his bid for the coveted Driver of the Year award in this event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) and sponsored by official tires Yokohama Philippines, Enersel Forte, official pace car Honda Cars-Kalookan, Rota Wheels, and Racing Beat@Wave89.1FM.
He showed consistency as he went full speed throughout with a laptime of 1:47.976 to rule both the Sprint and Main GT Race over defending champion William Tan.
But Tan, who’s having problems finding the right setup, equally needed the win to boost his title retention bid.
Floirendo now holds 160 points, 23 ahead of Tan who remains in second place with 137.
Alvin Ng of Tuason Racing moved up third with 63 points following his win in the GT130 class while Ramil Madriaga and Sean Redpath follow closely with 62 and 59 points, respectively.
Joining the fray are the father-and-son tandem of Arnel and Dwight Kevin Santos, Nueva Ecija bet Dean Joson, Marc Peter Thomann and Efren Laviña among others.
Adding attraction to the event is the exciting encounter of young guns and veterans in the 2011 Rota Wheels-Enersel Forte Philippine Vitz Cup.
Ready2Race drivers Roby Benito and Juha Turalba gun for a repeat of their feats against more experienced rivals Glenn Aguilar, Arvin Drueco, and George Apacible among others.
Oscar Aguilar and Sel-J Sports CEO Jay Lacnit likewise dispute honors in the Executive class
