MANILA, Philippines - Forest Hills got off to a rousing start by winning its first three matches for the best record so far even as last year’s finalists Riviera and Valley also chalked up early victories in the 2011 Federation Golf League.
Forest Hills swept its series with Sherwood Hills – a 3-2 win on the road and a 4.5-.5 victory at home – then made it three in a row with a 3.5-1.5 thumping of Wack Wack at home.
That gave the two-time champions sole leadership in Group 3 and the league with a perfect nine points.
The fickle weather the past weeks led to postponements of matches in all three groups with defending champion Riviera having played and won just one match against Alabang (4.5-.5) and last year’s losing finalist Valley sweeping Canlubang in its first tie both via 3-2 results.
Northwoods launched its campaign with a 3-2 squeaker over Sta. Elena but the latter bounced back by posting a 3.5-1.5 rout of Tagaytay Highlands.
Valley and Eastridge lead Group 2 with six points.
