Manila, Philippines - Yokohama-Castrol champion driver Carlos Anton got off to a perfect start with another big win and the fastest time recently in the kickoff leg of the 2011 Philippine Hillclimb Championship.
Anton bagged first place in Group 5 and posted the overall best time for the day with one minute, 31.18 seconds up the La Union Pias Stage for the team backed by Yokohama, Castrol, Hornitex, Emperor Motorsports, Autoshack, Sizzling Plate Restaurants and Home Outlet.
He led his Mark Young-Castrol team to a 1-2-3 finish with Alfie Concepcion posting the second fastest time of 1:35.20 and Dennis Aoyong with a 1:39.17 run using his Lancer Evolution 5 race car against over 35 Hillclimb other participants from all over the region.
Anton’s Castrol-Hornitex teammate and defending Group 2 champion Frankie Domingo (1:42.14) picked up where he left off last year and won the division over Edmund Dupo with a time of 1:42.94.
“It’s great to have a perfect start to the season, I hope we can continue our winning ways over the next rounds.” Anton said after his run up the mountain with his ever faithful 200 horsepower Honda CRX prepared by the Mark Young racing team.
“This victory shows how well we prepared for this series,” said team owner Mark Young.
