MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Habagat leave for South Korea next week to compete against the best in Southeast Asia and Pacific regions in the PONY Baseball League’s Asia Pacific Regional Championship slated July 18-22 in Seoul.
Composed of boys 11-12 years old mostly from the south of Manila who have played for their respective schools in the Metro League, Team Phl will go up against Japan, Korea, Taiwan and other countries in the SEA and Pacific regions.
Nico Batungbacal, Chris Clark, Geoffrey Magsadia, Jaz Monzones, Miguel Ochosa, Paya Ofilada, Anton Rosas, Yoji Ueda and Basti Valmores make up the Phl Habagat with Ronnie Lugay, Kelly Culubong and Mike Ochosa as coach.
The members were chosen based on their skills and attitude as well as their passion for the sport and determination to win.
The team, backed by Ayala Land’s Fields at Nuvali and Cebu Pacific, has been training at Ayala Land’s 1,804-hectare mixed-use eco-city, the Fields at Nuvali, Laguna, its home base.
