Alkhaldi cops three golds in SEA youth tilt

Manila, Philippines - Jasmine Alkhaldi led the charge of the national junior team by claiming three gold, one silver and one bronze medals in the recent South East Asian (SEA) Age Group Swimming Championships held in Danang, Vietnam recently.

Alkahldi, considered the country’s strongest homegrown female swimmer at present, also broke the SEA Age’s record in the 50m freestyle for girls 15-17 age group and set a new national mark in the 50m butterfly with a time 28.55 seconds. 

Joboy Gonzales also dominated the 400m individual medley shattering the SEA Age group five-year mark with a time 4.35.56.

The national team gained a total of 4 gold, 5 silver and 8 bronze medals in the meet.

Alkhaldi together with Jessie Khing Lacuna and Charlie Walker will represent the country in the upcoming FINA World Swimming Championships in Shanghai, China this month.
