MANILA, Philippines - Manila goes for the top seeding today as the Sharks take on the Alabang Tigers at resumption of their rain-suspended match last May 8 in Baseball Philippines Series 8 at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.
The Sharks posted an 8-4 lead over the Tigers when their match was rained out with the former knocking down rivals in the succeeding games to emerge the top team with an 8-1 mark in the league organized by Community Sports Inc. and sponsored by Gatorade and Rawlings.
Cebu, on the other hand, faces Dumaguete at the Clark Field Parade Grounds in Pampanga at 9 a.m. in an out-of-town game backed by Victory Liner, Clark Development Corporation, SM City Clark and San Miguel Corp. which was also rained out last week.
The Dolphins are in second with a 7-2 slate.
A Cebu win coupled with a Manila loss will give the Dolphins the No. 1 in the semis via a superior batting average. The third and fourth spots are being disputed by Batangas (5-5) and Taguig (4-5).
Taguig clashes with Dumaguete in the first game of the Fil-American Friendship Day All-Star festivities at the Alabang Country Club tomorrow with a Patriots win moving them past Batangas for the third-spot via the runs-allowed tiebreak.
The league is also backed by Harbour Centre, The Heritage Park, Emperador Distillers, Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee, Philippine Amateur Baseball Association, Philippine Umpires Association and DZSR Sports Radio 918.
