Freego Jeans backs Lions', Falcons' NCAA, UAAP bid
Manila, Philippines - As part of its commitment to promote basketball in the country, Freego Jeans has partnered with NCAA defending champion San Beda College and UAAP title contender Adamson for the coming collegiate tournaments.
Freego officials, led by president Nelson Chan, recently signed the contract making the country’s leading jeans maker the official provider of uniforms of both schools.
“We’re happy to announce our new partnership with a champion school like San Beda. We also make sure we are champions in terms of delivering quality jeans and clothing for the market,” said Chan.
“Adamson is an aggressive team, we are very positive about their chance and would be very glad to contribute to its success this season,” said Chan.
Even without American center Sudan Daniel, San Beda and Freego officials are confident the Red Lions can retain their title with a solid roster and full support of the entire San Beda community.
Garvo Lanete, Jake Pascual and Dave Marcelo will spearhead the Red Lions bid for their fifth title in six years.
The Falcons, handled by Leo Austria with Joel Yap as team coordinator, hope to improve on their semis stint last year with a roster toughened up by its stint in the PBA D-League.
The Falcons will be bannered by Alex Nuyles, Jeric Canada and Lester Alvarez, who powered Freego to a quarterfinal round finish D-League.
“We have an almost intact lineup, so we’ll do our best,” said Yap.
Freego is also in the forefront of high school tournaments, being a regular sponsor of Metro Manila Tiong Lian Basketball Tournament – the premier tournament among Fil-Chinese schools. It has also backed the staging of summer tournaments like the Fil-Chinese Basketball League (FCBL), NBTN/Coach E tournaments.
