Ex-Bull star to hold cage clinic
MANILA, Philippines - Former Chicago Bulls star Horace Grant will be holding a special clinic in the depressed area of Pasay City as part of his first ever visit to the country for the inaugural staging of the NBA 3-on-3 Philippines.
Grant, who won four NBA championships, including three straight from 1991-93 alongside the great Michael Jordan, is arriving here on July 1 and then conduct the cage clinic the day after in cooperation with the highly popular Coca-Cola Hoopla under commissioner Joe Lipa.
“I think this is a great opportunity for us to have an NBA great, especially among the youths who love basketball,” said Lipa, accompanied in Tuesday’s PSA Forum at Shakey’s UN Ave. by NBA Asia country manager Carlo Singson.
Turning 46 on July 4, Grant was also a member of the Los Angeles Lakers team that won the first of its first three straight titles in 2000-01. An NBA All-Star in 1994, the power forward out of Clemson University is the special guest of the NBA 3-on-3 Philippines presented by Sprite on July 1-3 at the Music Hall of the SM Mall of Asia.
Arriving with Grant is the New York Knicks City Dancers.
Singson disclosed in the same session presented by Smart, Outlast Battery, Pagcor and Shakey’s that a total of 112 teams, both boys and girls, will be competing in five different divisions – 13 and under, 15 and under, 17 and under, 19 and under, Open – during the three-day event that is adopting the FIBA 3-on-3 format and rules.
