All-Star tiff to highlight Fil-Am Day

Manila, Philippines - An All-Star Game, featuring the country’s top baseball players and young stars, will highlight the Pepsi Fil-American Friendship Day on Sunday at the Alabang Country Club in Muntinlupa City.

Baseball Philippines and the Community Sports Inc. are putting up the event as part of the country’s celebration of the Fil-Am Day with the rosters of the teams competing in the All-Star Game still being finalized.

No less than US Ambassador Harry Thomas Jr. will be the guest of honor in the event sponsored by Gatorade, Rawlings, Pepsi, Victory Liner and Clark Development Corp.

Meanwhile, Baseball Phl will also recognize all the Philippine teams vying in the Regional and World Series tournaments such as the International Baseball Federation (IBAF), Little League and Pony Baseball.

An elimination round game in the BP Series 8 will also be held before the All-Star Game with the Dumaguete Uni-bikers taking on the Taguig Patriots in a crucial match for placing in the semifinal round.

The Patriots need a win to clinch the No. 3 seat.

Fun games, open to all participants for all ages, will also be held in the day-long celebration at the ACC.

The event is backed by Harbour Centre, The Heritage Park, Emperador Light, Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee, Philippine Amateur Baseball Association, Philippine Umpires Association and DZSR Sports Radio 918.
