Local, US aces duel anew in Lanao races
MANILA, Philippines - What is fast turning out to be a rivalry between the Filipino riders and their American counterparts continues this weekend in the Lanao del Norte leg of the Enersel Forte Philippine and World Motocross Series in Tubod town.
Filipino motocross superstars, headed by multi-titled Glenn Aguilar, will seek revenge over their American rivals, headed by two-time All-Japan champion Kyle Matthew Lewis in the races, according to Jay Lacnit, president and CEO of the organizing Sel-J Sports in yesterday’s special Scoop sa Kamayan session at the Kamayan-Padre Faura.
“It will be an exciting two-day race with Glenn and company raring to go and avenge their early defeats to the Americans,” said Lacnit in the public service forum, sponsored by Coca-Cola Export, FILA and TV-5.
Lacnit was referring to last year’s results, including the last race held in Iloilo City won by Dennis Stapleton.
“The Americans, definitely, have the advantage in equipment and international experience, but our riders’ resiliency, determination and fighting spirit, I believe will lead them to victory this time,” said Lacnit.
