Gun safety gab up at Arms Show

-

MANILA, Philippines - A group of pro-life advocates will conduct free seminars on responsible gun ownership during the 2011 Defense Sporting and Arms Show (DSAS) Part I slated July 14-18 at the Megatrade Halls 2 and 3, SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City.

Mike Melchor, who pioneered the advocacy on responsible gun ownership, will spearhead the seminar initiated by the A2S5 Coalition, a multi-sectoral group promoting a similar cause.

Another responsible gun ownership advocate, Eustacio “Jun” Sinco of the Philippine Practical Shooters Assocation-National Range Officers Institute, will also hold a free lecture on gun safety during the five-day DSAS.

Now on its 19th year, the DSAS, organized by the Association of Firearms and Ammunition Dealers (AFAD) now under the leadership of Neri Dionisio, has also lined up several other seminars promoting sport shooting, self defense, firearm maintenance and even disaster and emergency response.

This year’s DSAS theme is on the advocacy of A2S5 Coalition: “Right to Life, Right to Live.”

On the aspect of security, Lito Barrameda, a security specialist, will provide free lecture entitled: “K-9-Its Relevance to Security” on the significance of deploying specially-trained dogs for security measures on establishments.

This year’s DSAS will also honor the country’s top shooters who will be participating in the World Shoot XVI led by world shooting champ Jethro Dionisio in Rhodes, Greece in September this year.
