Escalante seeks karting super series solo lead
MANILA, Philippines - Following his big win in Batangas, Tuason Racing protégé Basti Escalante hopes to wrest solo leadership in the Formula SL Novice as he guns for a back-to-back triumph in the third leg of the 2011 National Karting Super Series tomorrow at the Boomland Kart Track of the CCP Complex.
His impressive Batangas triumph put him back in the spotlight from a disappointing kickoff stint as he now moved up second overall with the big support of Tuason Racing School, Castrol, OMP, Oakley, Discovery Suites, Belo Men, Toptul, C1 Magazine, and his individual sponsors Audi, Transnational Diversified Group, Werdenberg International Corp., Bridgestone, Puma, Coke Zero, Bank of Commerce, Emcor, KServico, Washington Watches and The Philippine STAR.
Basti now holds a total of 104 points, or just 26 points behind current leader Sacha Feliciano. A big sweep could install him on top.
But the narrow, high speed course of the Boomland track will be a big challenge. Escalante said he will just have to maximize the power of his engine and the lessons learned under the Tuason Racing School Racing Career Management Program (TRS-RCM) to survive the ordeal.
“The pressure is on me. This is just my first year in this class and there are a lot of other talented guys also raring to shine. I’ll focus on my race and with right strategy at the right time, hopefully I’ll put through,” said Escalante.
In the last race, he started 10th on the grid but with determination and prodding’s from Tuason Racing president JP Tuason, he managed to pass one karter to another and pull off the amazing victory.
The TRS-Racing Career Management Program is aimed at helping young racers achieve a successful career path in motorsports. Multi-disciplined racers and champions JP and Mike Tuason designed the said program patterned after the training program of Formula One drivers to fast track the development and training of young potentials into champion racers.
