Meteors streak past Cebu Niños

MANILA, Philippines - Misamis Oriental shocked defending national champion M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu, 72-69, at the start of the Mandaue City leg of the SMC Liga Pilipinas Conference V at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Center in Mandaue City, Cebu last Wednesday.

The Meteors of Gov. Oscar Moreno and coach Jun Noel made their move in the final four minutes to complete their fightback from 11 points down midway in the contest.

Ken Bono and Egay Billones scored 27 and 21 points, respectively, for the Meteors, who trailed in the first three quarters but outgunned the Niños down the stretch.

Bono also had eight rebounds and three shot blocks.

Nat Cruz paced the Niños of Michel Lhuillier and coach Raul Alcoseba with 14 points and 10 rebounds while Felix Belano added 11.

The tournament is backed by San Miguel, Molten, Summit Natural Drinking Water and Accel.
