Paz-Moreno duo wins 32K kayak marathon

MANILA, Philippines -  A 32km kayak marathon of the Philippine Kayaking Series, the longest running kayaking series in the country, was recently held at Anvaya Cove Beach and Nature Club. Tandem team German Paz and Reneric Moreno clocked at 4hrs:10mins:47secs finishing non-stop the 32km route from Mabayo, Morong, Bataan to San Antonio, Zambales and back. 

Below are the official results of the 32Km Anvaya Cove-Silanguin Bay-Anvaya Cove, 3Km Novice Race and Crazy 8s Kayak Slalom last June 4. 17 teams competed in the endurance recreational competition in the open waters of South Chine Sea, while 41 teams joined the 3km novice and slalom races inside Anvaya Cove. A media slalom race was participated in by media guests with Anvaya Club members coming in full force to join the races for their second year’s hosting of the series. First-time kayakers DOT Region 3 and Zambales provincial gov’t staffers bravely completed the 32km race while exploring sports and ecotourism potentials of kayaking.

Aside from the races, it was a lively day of kayaking clinics, meals prepared by Pawikan Grill, Sabang’s Kapisanan ng mga Mangingisda and tinapa-making demo of the local women’s group. The local elementary school’s drum and lyre band and Anvaya dance group added to the festive atmosphere of the event. There were free rides on Hobie kayaks and muscle relaxant massages of Bodivance.

A sumptuous Victory Dinner and Awards Night capped the event with two SunSea kayaks and two tickets to Bangkok from Cebu Pacific won by the first three teams of the 32km marathon.
