MANILA, Philippines - AFP Golf Club turned in its best round of 152 and posted a record 72-point romp over Tagaytay Highlands in Group I while the two Camp John Hay teams likewise cruised to victories in their respective divisions at the close of the Asian Ladies Team Golf Championship in Baguio City last Thursday.
Matet Salivio shot 52 Molave points to lead AFP’s successful title-retention bid with a 54-hole total of 447 that included rounds of 145 and 150 while clinching the individual crown with a 163 effort. Other members of the team in the four-to-play, three-to-count format event were Josie Untal, Mabel Salivio and Karen Kime.
Tagaytay Highlands, composed of Gie Bote, Hedy See, Emalina Flores and Nini Eustaquio, made a 127 for a 375 for second in the event sponsored by Golforce, Poblador Bautista & Reyes Law Offices, Asia Pacific Golf Corp., Camp John Hay Manor, Le Chef, Camp John Hay Development Corp., Rizgolf Sports Marketing and Boracay Sands.
John Hay 2, led by Oh Kyung Ja, Eve Aquiono, Hur Kun Soo and Keum Myung Heui, slowed down with a 105 after a 112 and 114 but still clinched the Group 2 crown with a 331 for a 10-point win over Alabang, which had a 321 after a 115.
John Hay 3, bannered by Jung Jung Soon, Norma Lawrence, Leonor Corpuz and Kim Ok Hee, closed out with a 118 for a 337 as it ruled Group 3 via a 26-point romp over Baguio Country Club (114-311) in the three-day tournament backed by Dusit Thani Manila, Sherwood Hills Golf Club, Forest Hills Golf Club, Unionbank, Federal Management and Manpower, Inc., University of Baguio, Addessa Corp. and Hill Station Restaurant.
Alabang’s Rita Horan copped the individual title in Group 2 with a 132 after a 46 while Soon of John Hay 3 shot 46 points for a 125 as she bagged the top individual honors in Group 3 of the annual event.
