PBA Legends to boost Canlubang 5 against Starmen

MANILA, Philippines - A huge crowd of Canlubang residents and cage fans is expected to watch the Balik-Canlubang basketball exhibition game featuring a PBA Legends-Canlubang combine against the Philippine STAR team on Saturday at the Mary Help of Christian School gym in Canlubang, Laguna.

Former four-time MVP Alvin Patrimonio and triggerman Allan Caidic banner the roster of former PBA stars who were invited through Robert Non, SMC basketball operations head. The others are SMB coach Ato Agustin, Johnny Abarrientos, Peter Martin and Hector Calma.

Also suiting up is Jerry Codiñera, currently the UE Warriors coach.

Philippine Sports commissioner Chito Loyzaga and Canlubang Barangay chair Eric Manaig will also grace the exhibition..

The Balik-Canlubang is a project of the Canlubang residents to bring back all bonafide “Batang Canlubang” from all over the world to a grand reunion on Jan. 6-7, 2012.

The exhibition game will serve as the first of a series of sporting events lined up by the steering committee, headed by Ely Baradas.

It will also hold an amateur boxing exhibition, a fun run and an 18-hole golf tournament at Cangolf.

The event is sponsored by San Miguel Corp., the STAR Group of Publications, Canlubang Barangay Council and Rizal Institute Alumni Association.

Tickets are pegged at P50 and will be available at the MHCS gates near Don Bosco gym and Ceris One subdivision on game day in the event also held to help raise funds for a medical mission for the elderly next year.
