AKTV eyes SEAG stint
MANILA, Philippines- AKTV, TV5’s sports television arm that would be launched soon, is bent on getting exclusive coverage of the 26th Southeast Asian Games slated Nov. 11-25 in Palembang and Jakarta, Indonesia.
AKTV manager Vito Lazatin said the station is considering getting the rights to air all the games where there is Philippine participation.
“We’re currently studying it now, I can say that we’re definitely interested,” said Lazatin in Thursday night’s press conference at the National Sports Grill in Greenbelt in Makati City. “It’s a perfect fit to what we really want, which is bring all the action to the entire nation.”
TV5 is one of a couple of television stations interested in getting the broadcast rights of the biennial event, the other being ABS-CBN, which is hoping to continue to cover matches of the popular Azkals team in football.
Although it’s a TV5 affiliate station, AKTV will be launched on June 5 and broadcast on IBC channel 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. everyday hoping to become TV5’s home of sports and active lifestyle programs.
