Kids strut wares anew in 'champs of future'

Manila, Philippines - The country’s promising future racing superstars battle each other anew in the championship leg of the 2011 Castrol Champions of the Future Series tomorrow at the Carmona racetrack.

Raymond Cudala leads the tough field of 16 racing wannabes as they battle for the title as stake in this event organized by Castrol and powered by its partners Tuason Racing School, the Automobile Association Philippines, Alaska, Pena Motorsports, AUTS Racing, Bridgestone, PUMA, OMP, Jaguar, Lifeline, Carmona Race Track, The Philippine STAR, 99.5RTfm, Trapik.com, Kzone, Top Gear and Timezone.

Cudala, a 12-year-old Grade 5 student of Elizabeth Seton School, currently holds solo leadership with 30 points as he guns for his third straight triumph in this series.

He proved his consistency and determination in the past two outings but William Casequin and Arthur Tuason are raring for a win that will improve their title chances.

Casequin, the nine-year-old son of touring car champion and TRS race car driver Stuart MacDonald, gave him a fierce fight in the last encounter before ending third. With 24 points at hand, Casequin is still hopeful of upstaging Cudala for the crown.

Tuason, the grandson of racing great Arthur Tuason and son of multi-discipline champion JP Tuason, will bank on more than just his distinguished racing bloodline to intensify his quest for the overall plum. He’s third overall with 20.

Joining the cast are Bryan Joshua Thorp, Jose Luigi Lachica, Ronin Leviste, Arielle Leviste, Dylan Arambulo, Galen Yap, Iolo Estanislao, Julian Gabriel Espino, Flynn Keeling Jackes, Xedrei Daquigan, Matthew Maramba, Gabriel Tayao Cabrera, and Dominique Lao.

Registration starts at 8 a.m. The open practice is at 9 a.m. while the pre-final and final races are slated in the afternoon.

The winner of the series will be given a scholarship package to run in the national karting series from AAP under the tutelage of multi-awarded race car drivers and champion makers JP and Mike Tuason.
