MANILA, Philippines - Civic activities, a fashion show, fun games on the beach and basketball clinics have been lined up to spice up the 2011 PBA All-Star Weekend from May 18 to 23 in Boracay Island.
The main event of the five-day activities dubbed “Hala Bola” – the North versus South All-Star game – is scheduled Sunday, at the Boracay Eco-Village Resort and Convention Center.
The All-Star skills events – the slam dunk competition, three-point shootout and obstacle challenge – are set on Friday.
In a move meant to bring the league closer to its fans, the league will hold its outreach program “Alagang PBA” in Carabao Island on Thursday, where players will initiate mangrove tree planting, coastal cleanup, basketball court painting and hospital visit and gift giving activities.
Boracay Mayor John Yap will be on hand to accompany the PBA delegation on its way to Carabao Island, where Mayor Fil Tandog will welcome the group.
The All-Star Weekend, with Cre8 Events Asia as official event host partner, is also sponsored by Boracay Eco-Village Resort and Convention Center, Puma Time, Suretite Super Glue, Rain or Shine, Meralco, Coca-Cola, Talk ‘N Text, Sheridan Resorts, Smart, Cinderella, Nafnaf, Esprit and official hotel partner Alta Vista Hotel de Boracay and DMCI Homes.
A fashion show featuring PBA players and 15 candidates of the Mutya ng Pilipinas will also be held Thursday night, after the beach games at Station 2.
The beach games include the Supertite Super Glue “Hug of War” where teams will be composed by PBA players, Mutya candidates and local and foreign tourists, the Rain or Shine Relay and 3-on-3 volleyball.
