MANILA, Philippines - Defending champion Meralco-Quezon City and Rain or Shine marched to their third consecutive victories on Friday to stay on top of their respective groups in the 2011 Batang PBA Summer League at the San Juan gym.
Gian Mamuyac and Luis Velasco each scored nine points to lead a balance scoring by the Batang Bolts, who secured a 62-25 win over Air21 after posting a 24-2 lead at the end of the first quarter to stay unbeaten in Group B.
Behind John Lagumen’s 19 points and Aveen Hemandas’ 12, ROS-San Juan outplayed Barangay Ginebra-Caloocan, 64-43 to lead in Group A.
In the other games, Gian Benzonan scored 14 points as B-Meg Derby Ace-Marikina notched its second straight win in three games in Group B with a 60-50 romp over Talk N’ Text-Taytay (1-2) on Thursday at the Trinity University of Asia gym.
Petron Blaze-Manila also picked up its second consecutive win with a 63-49 victory over Powerade-Cainta to stay at second place in Group A with a 2-1 record. Agen Miranda showed the way for Manila with 24 points.
