Adamson, UST take softball openers

-

MANILA, Philippines - University of Sto. Tomas and Adamson dominated their respective rivals and came away with lopsided victories in the Cebuana Lhuillier-Asaphil Summer Grandslam Softball Invitational Championships at the Wangal Sports Complex in La Trinidad, Benguet last Monday.

UST served notice of its title retention bid in the women’s division as it routed Bulacan State University (BSU), 12-5, while UAAP titlist Adamson blanked local team University of Cordilleras, 15-0, as they seized control in the early going of the tournament which drew 10 teams.

Meanwhile, Cavite-Philippine Navy All Stars whipped Bibak, 14-0, in men’s division of the week-long tournament.

But it’s MS Marikina, composed of members of last year’s men’s division champion squad from the Rizal Technological University, which turned in the most emphatic victory, a 20-1 demolition of Fongwan Softball Club, another local team.
