Pio del Pilar, Pitogo go through wringers

Manila, Philippines - Pio del Pilar battled back to edge Olympia, 66-64, while Pitogo repulsed Guadalupe, 68-62, in Makati even as Salapan pulled off a tough 67-66 win over Sta. Lucia in San Juan in the intra-city NCR elims of the second Coca-Cola Hoopla last Wednesday.

In other games, Wagas routed Kasipagan, 68-54, in Manila; Pasay Youth stopped Pasay Warriors, 60-56; Masambong crushed Kristong Hari, 102-74, in Quezon City; Commonwealth dumped Libis, 79-60, also in QC; Malinta topped Canumay, 107-101, in Valenzuela; Hulong Duhat ripped Tinajeros, 129-63, in Malabon; Sta. Ana routed Sto. Rosario, 90-80, in Pateros; Hagdang Bato downed Mauway, 100-87, in Mandaluyong; Libid waylaid Lunsad, 85-57, in Binangonan; and Ligid Tipas beat North Signal, 79-73, in Taguig.

Meanwhile, action in the intra-city matches resumes today with Libis and Masambong clashing at 4 p.m. at Bernardo Park in  Quezon City. Other matches pit Commonwealth vs Kristong Hari at 6 p.m. near Station 10 EDSA  in  Quezon City; Namayan vs Hagdang Bato at 9 p.m. at the City Gym of Mandaluyong; Ligid Tipas vs North Signal at 4 p.m. at Plaza Nueve Covered Court, Brgy. North Signal in Taguig; and Pinagbuhatan vs Palatiw at 5 p.m. at Rizal High in Pasig.

A total cash prize of P500,000 is at stake in the project launched by JB Baylon, PBA Powerade Tigers governor and director for public affairs and communications of Coca-Cola Export Corp., with P250,000 going to the eventual NCR champion.
