Grand, Phl youth bowl set

Manila, Philippines - Duckpin bowling grabs the spotlight from April 30 to May 8 with the staging of the 36th Grand and 15th National Youth championships at the Marketplace Bowling Center along Kalentong St. in Mandaluyong City.

Around P400,000 in gift certificates and beautifully crafted trophies will be up for grabs in men’s and ladies’ competition in trio, single (ABC), seniors and youth single events.

Organized by the Philippine Duckpin Bowling Council (PHIDBC) and supported by the Philippine Olympic Committee, Philippine Sports Commission and Emperador Brandy, the tournament will also feature a mixed team trio event for the youth in two levels.

The event will also be highlighted by the PHIDBC general assembly on May 5.

Duckpin bowlers from Visayas, Mindanao, Luzon and the National Capital Region are expected to participate, according to PHIDBC president Inez Magbual.

All NSA (national sports association) presidents, friends and PHIDBC supporters like Manny Manosca and Nestor Ugsad have been invited to grace the opening ceremony.

The major prizes are P45,000 and P40,000 for the men’s and ladies’ team champions, P15,000 each for the men’s and ladies’ singles winners, P3,000 for the youth singles topnotcher, P5,000 and P3,000 mixed trio winners for classes A and B, respectively; and P5,000 for the senior champion.
