MANILA, Philippines - Dottie Ardina hopes to end her long stint in the annual ICTSI Junior Golf Summer Circuit with a victory as she joins the local Junior World qualifying tournament starting today at the Legends course of the Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club in Carmona, Cavite.
One of the winningest campaigners in the junior golf ranks who started playing when she was six, Ardina, now 17, rejoins the circuit after a long while to vie for the girls Class A division crown.
Ardina is already seeded for the Junior World proper this coming July in San Diego, California by virtue of her top 10 finish last year at Torrey Pines. But she will be contending for one of the 12 free tickets to Los Angeles for tournament winners courtesy of circuit sponsor Philippine Airlines.
As one of the major backers of the circuit, PAL will fly the local Junior World delegation to Los Angeles en route to San Diego. The other sponsors of the circuit are Pancake House, Terriyaki Boy, Sizzlin Pepper, Chevrolet, Golf Depot, McDonald’s, Duty Free, Friends of Jungolf, A Round of Golf and Inquirer Golf.
To be disputed today until Friday are four slots each in the boys and girls divisions of Class A (15-17 years) and Class B (13-14) and three each in Class C (11-12) and Class D (9-10). The qualifying for Class E and F was held last week at Riviera.
