Bacolod routs Leyte, tops Suzuki regionals

MANILA, Philippines - Bacolod trounced a hapless Leyte side, 11-nil, to top the Visayas Regional Qualifiers of the PFF Suzuki U-23 National Cup in Dumaguete City yesterday.

The Bacolod reserves got the job done right in the first 45 minutes of play with Joshua Beloya and Ralph Layumas scoring alongside starter Jovin Bedic for a 4-0 count.

The Bacolod booters even came out of the half smoking as they peppered Leyte keeper Ferdinand Fortaliza with shots from everywhere, producing five more goals to close out the game.

The win came after Bacolod nipped rival Iloilo, 1-nil, Monday with Jay Baguioro slamming the lone goal off Wilson Muñoz, as it swept the elims with a 4-0 slate worth 12 points.

Counting his goals against Cebu and Dumaguete, Beloya scored six to overshadow Dumaguete’s Morris John Tulang’s four-goal output against Leyte in their opening day encounter and another against Cebu yesterday.

Leyte ended up with a 0-4 card.
