AGC monthly set

MANILA, Philippines - The Architects Golf Club holds its monthly tournament on April 25 with another banner field expected to see action at the Mt. Malarayat Golf and Country Club in Lipa, Batangas.

The event, sponsored by Boysen Paints, will have a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. with competitions also up in the Boysen Cup, the Inter-School and the second qualifying round using the Stableford scoring format.

Other backers of the tournament are Emerald Vinyl, JME Supreme International, Inc., Koten, Megacem, Inc./Holcim, Moldex Products, Inc., Decopro, Inc., Excellence Appliance (Whirlpool-Fujidenzo-Glem), Famcor Glassworks, Glasstemp Industries Corp. and Hocheng Phils., Corp. (HCG).

Meanwhile, Ike Madamba and Mike Joaquin topped their respective divisions in the AGC March tournament at Valley Golf Club’s north course.

Madamba scored a net 66 to cop the Group I crown, nipping Mike Pena, who had a 67, while Boy Alcantara finished third with a net 71.

Joaquin shot a net 65 then edged Simeon Tan in the countback to pocket the Group II plum. Cesar Lim placed third with a net 68.

Neil Magkilat also fired a net 65 then nipped Bobby Cheng in the countback for the Group III diadem. Efren Gonzales took third place with a net 67.

Antonio Ong lorded it over the field in Group IV, scoring a net 61 for a four-point romp over Mikee da Jose, who had a 65, while Albert Uy placed third with a net 69.

Sonia Ongkiko carded a net 60 to post a two-point victory over Boni Embuscado, who had a 62, in the senior division. Joe Felix made a net 63 to finish third.
