M'cauayan, Joson rule Ka Eliong golfest

MANILA, Philippines - Meycauayan lorded it over the field with 170 Stableford points to capture the overall team championship while Richard Joson of Quezon City copped the individual title in the eighth Ka Eliong Memorial and Philippine inter-town golf tournament at the Royal Northwoods Golf Club in San Rafael, Bulacan recently.

Kevin Saclot shot 29 and 35, Chris delos Santos made 25-29, Roland delos Santos had a 23-29 card while Dondon Petil didn’t count with 23-25 for Meycauayan, which nipped QC in the countback to clinch the crown in the 36-hole tournament held in honor of the late club founder Cornelio Pancho.

QC also assembled a 170, including a solid 28-37 effort from Richard Joson, while Tomas Joson had 26-22 and Junie Fontanilla made 31-26 while Boy Ungson failed to count with 25-21 in the event held to benefit the Ka Eliong Foundation, which sends less fortunate but deserving elementary, high school and college students to school.

Richard Joson took the individual title with 65 points, edging Saclot, who had a 64.

HR1-Baliuag took the Class A crown with a 173 as Vidal Querol fired 32-32, Von Sarmiento made 27-29 and Edwin Rodriguez had 25-28. CMPCI settled for second with 152 points on Arnel Arteche’s 31-26, Ric Asperin’s 28-20 and Sixton Sengson’s 22-25.

Veterans, led by Sammy Jumaquio’s 23-22 output, assembled a 139 then edged Bamboo City in the countback to bag the Class B crown.

The tournament was sponsored by C.M. Pancho Construction, Hotel Masfino, Empire Golf and Sports Shop, Pilipinas Shell, Total Phils. Corp., Livan Trade Corp., Civic Merchandising, Metal Exponents Inc. and Good Morning International Corp.

El Masfino, with Jojo Tobias leading the charge with 17-16 points ran away with the Class C diadem with 89 points, beating ERC2 by seven in the event backed by hole-in-one sponsors Hyundai QC, Kart Plaza Manufacturing, distributor of Yamaha Golf Cart, The Turf Company (Texas Eagle Club Car) and GPS Tracker.

Other supporters were Traffic Supplies and Construction Corp., Delta Earthmoving Inc., Janglo Trading and Construction, Norberto E. Comaling Enterprises, Pacific Pipes and Fitting Corp., Wyler Enterprises Inc., J.E.
