Asia Pacific canine fed holds congress

MANILA, Philippines - The third Federacion Canina Internacional Asia Pacific Congress will be held tomorrow with delegates from various clubs and associations participating at the Merdika Palace Hotel and Suites in Kuching City, Malaysia.

Hosted by the Sarawak Kennel Association, the congress will be attended by representatives from the Asian Kennel Club of the Philippines, Inc. (AKCUPI), China Kennel Association, Kennel Club of Myanmar, East Malaysia Dogowners Association, Japan Kennel Union, and the Pet Industry Association based in Guandong, China. 

The Hong Kong-Kowloon Kennel Association will send observers to the congress.

Johnson Jong, president of the Sarawak Kennel Association, will deliver the welcome remarks, while Henry Babiera, chairman/president of AKCUPI and head of FCI Asia Pacific Section and Dr. Jose Alberto Fernandez Felix, FCI president, will give the opening remarks. Malaysian Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr. George Chan Nong Nam will give his inspirational message.

To be keynoted by Dr. Jose Alberto Fernandez Felix, the congress will be highlighted by the awarding of full membership to the FCI Asia Pacific Section of the China Kennel Association and a slide presentation of FCI’s past global events.

It also features a discussion of the breed standard for Shiba Inu by Ikuo Kitayama, president of the Japan Canine Union, global authority for that breed, sessions on the vision and plans for FCI Global, plans for FCI Asia-Pacific Section to be tackled by Babiera, discussions on policy for FCI show/number of show per club, points system to become FCI champion, membership campaign within Asia Pacific, global recognition of FCI pedigree, a must requirement for the immediate submission of the member-clubs’ stud books in Spain thru AKCUPI, and bidding for the fourth FCI Asia Pacific Congress venue.

John Lo of SKA will be the emcee and John Irvin Uy of AKCUPI the moderator.
