TV5 airs primetime sports block AKTV on IBC-13

MANILA, Philippines - Sports 5, the sports arm of TV5, recently entered into a blocktime agreement with IBC-13, paving the way for the debut of AKTV, the all-new, primetime block that airs a wide range of local and international sports events.

Powered by TV5’s world-class broadcast facilities, AKTV caters to the active lifestyle of game aficionados with its wide variety of sports – from basketball to boxing, billiards golf, triathlon, marathon, badminton, F1 racing, wakeboarding and surfing.

Following the success of its one-month old news channel, AksyonTV UHF Channel 41, TV5 expressed confidence the entry of AKTV would benefit the public’s growing interest in a healthy and active lifestyle.

“As we see more world-class Filipino athletes bringing glory to the country, Filipinos’ interest in sports has increased now more than ever. AKTV will complement this through comprehensive sports coverage and programs that would give an in-depth view on this emerging active lifestyle,” said Ray Espinosa, TV5 president and CEO.

“This partnership activates a new landscape to develop the channel. The team-up between ABC-5 (TV5) and IBC-13 is something good for Philippine television as it has never been done before,” said Lito Ocampo Cruz, IBC-13 vice-president and member of the board of directors, during the contract-signing between the two networks.
