MANILA, Philippines - Young racing wannabes get their last chance to be discovered this year as the “Castrol Champions of the Future” discovery program stages the last of its karting clinics on April 3 at the Carmona Racetrack, Cavite.
Registration is ongoing for kids aged seven to 13 years old who have the potentials as future racing champs through this event organized by Castrol and its partners Tuason Racing School, the Automobile Association Philippines, Alaska, Pena Motorsports, AUTS Racing, Bridgestone, Puma, OMP, Jaguar, Lifeline, Carmona Race Track, The Philippine STAR, 99.5RTfm, Trapik.com, Kzone, Top Gear and Timezone.
More than 80 aspirants joined the previous three clinics as the first batch of qualified kids, led by Raymond Ryan Cudala, William Casequin and Peeve Madriaga who emerged the top three finishers, displayed impressive skills in the kickoff race.
And Castrol, a leading global oil company that has been at the forefront of Formula One racing for the past 61 years, expects more kids to join the clinic this summer vacation as the program proved effective in providing opportunities for extraordinary talents to come out and be trained under the expertise of Tuason Racing School.
“We’re very elated over the number of young kids who enrolled in the past three clinics. And we’re more inspired that this program proved there a lot of talents waiting to be discovered as shown by the intense action and display of skills in our kickoff leg,” said Castrol president Mars Sota.
Limited slots are available. Applicants must not exceed the maximum height of five feet and a maximum waistline of 30 inches. The clinic includes basic skills and hands-on training. Registration fee is P3,500.
“We were surprised with the good turnouts of the clinics and the impressive first batch of racers. Yet, we believe the best talents are yet to come, hopefully it will be from this last batch,” said TRS president JP Tuason.
Twenty scholarship slots will be given to the most deserving kids after the clinics and those qualified will be battling each other in the four-leg 2011 Castrol Champions of the Future Series.
The series winner will be given a scholarship package to run in the National Karting Series from AAP under the tutelage of multi-awarded race car drivers and champion makers JP and Mike Tuason.
