MANILA, Philippines - The 22nd Annual Yakult 10 Miler fires off on Sunday from the Vicente Sotto St. inside the Cultural Center Complex in Pasay City with over 2,000 runners participating.
The 10-mile race centerpiece event on top of the 3K and 5K fun runs starts promptly at 5:30 a.m. with Michael Ong, Yakult Phils., Inc., manager sales and planning firing off the starters gun. Other Yakult executives will also be on hand to awards the prizes to all winners at the awarding rites scheduled to start at 7 a.m.
The race starts at the Vicente Sotto St. to Roxas Blvd. Runners will turn right on the southbound side of Roxas Blvd. and will run until the MIA Rd. in Parañaque passing through the City of Pasay.
Motorists are advised to avoid travelling the southbound side of Roxas Blvd. from P. Ocampo St. until the EDSA/Roxas Blvd. flyover from 3-9 a.m. Sunday.
The two inner lanes of the soutbound side of Roxas Blvd. in Parañaque will also be closed to vehicular traffic.
Topping the list of hopefuls for the 10 Mile run are Cresenciano Sabal and Alley Quisay and Ailene Toletino in the distaff side.
Rene Hererra and Maricel Maquilan topped last year’s staging in the 10 Mile distance with a time of 53:21 and 1:05:14 respectively.
According to Michael Ong, the 10 Miler champion will receive P7,500 with the first female finisher receiving the same cash award. The second placers will receive P3,000; third P2000; fourth P1000 and the fifth placers P500. Trophies will also be awarded to the top three finishers while the fourth to fifth finishers will receive medals. In the 5K and 3K division, the top 3 finishers will receive medals. All awardees will also receive a Yakult gift pack while all finishers will receive finishers singlets and a bottle of Yakult, the unique health drink with lacto bacilli shirota strain.
