Iloilo to stage futsal tourney

MANILA, Philippines - The Iloilo Football Association, in cooperation with the city government under Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, will hold a regional futsal tournament on March 26 at the Iloilo Doctors College in Iloilo City.

Sanctioned by the Philippine Football Federation, the event serves as part of the local sports tourism campaign of Iloilo City. It will start at 8 a.m.

Eismaeil Sedigh, the national coach of the Philippine futsal team, will scout possible candidates for the national team in coordination with tournament director Cesar Emmanuel Buyco Jr.

Twelve teams have confirmed participation in the event, including Cebu, Bacolod and Roxas with San Miguel, Oton, Guimbal, Sta. Barbara and Barotac Nuevo making up the host city’s roster.
