Fourth Animo Stakes races to unfold at MJC

MANILA, Philippines - Manila Jockey Club, Inc. (MJCI) and Las Salle Greenhills (LSGH) Batch 1987 renew their partnership for a worthy cause as they co-present the annual Animo Stakes Races, a racing fund-raiser for the benefit of the One La Salle Foundation, set this Saturday at the San Lazaro Leisure and Business Park (SLLBP) in Carmona, Cavite.

The Animo Stakes Races is a project of the La Salle Greenhills Alumni Association to raise funds in support of the alumni’s many charitable projects.

Paul Fernandez, president of LSGH Batch 1987, Inc., said, “The fourth Animo Stakes races will not only help bring in funding for the charity projects of LSGH ’87, but also help increase awareness on the initiatives of the One La Salle Foundation.

De La Salle Philippines through One La Salle Foundation, has set an ambitious goal of raising P1-billion for the One La Salle Scholarship Fund to mark its 100th founding anniversary this year. The project aims to provide full scholarships for up to 20% of the student population in each of the 18 De La Salle schools in the country.

“Manila Jockey Club is a proud partners of LSGH Batch 1987 in its initiative to help raise scholarships for the De La Salle schools in the Philippines in line with the vision of One La Salle Foundation,” said MJCI EVP and COO Alfonso “King” Reyno, III, a distinguished alumni of DLGH.

The Animo Stakes Races is made possible through the generous sponsorship of the Philippine Racing Commission (Philracom) and is envisioned to facilitate contributions from the racing public to provide quality education to poor but deserving students.

The thrill and excitement of horse racing is expected to inspire others to contribute their share for a noteworthy cause, summed up in the phrase “from racing, to caring.” Interested parties can also support the drive through sponsorships and scholarship pledges.

The daylong festivities will be aired live by the San Lazaro Broadcasting Network (SLBN) on Sky Cable channel 113, Destiny Cable channel 84, and in all 255 MJCI OTB stations all over the country.
