Badillo-Brodett tops Southwoods Srs tilt

MANILA, Philippines - Mario Badillo and Philip Brodett pooled two 103s as they captured the Group I crown while Manolo Agojo and Cesar Lacuña bagged the Group 2 plum in the third Manila Southwoods Seniors Invitational golf tournament at the Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club in Carmona, Cavite recently.

Badillo and Brodett played consistently at the Legends and Masters courses, assembling a 206-point aggregate under the Molave scoring system and beating the Danny Olanosa-Jose Nepomuceno tandem by nine points in the premier division of the 36-hole, two-day tournament presented by Fumaco, Inc. and supported by hole-in-one sponsors Yamaha by Kart Plaza and Wilson.

Olanosa and Nepomuceno wound up with a 197 from rounds of 96 and 101.

Jaime Cervantes shared the spotlight as he won the Yamaha Golf Cart during awards rites in the event backed by Anako Phils., Asia Pacific Golf Corp., Asiaphil Manufacturing, Boracay Sands Hotel, Camp John Hay Golf Club, CJH Project Management, Inc., Fairbright Enterprises, Inc., Forest Hills Golf and Country Club, MJJ Print Phils., MRT, Philips, Red Eagle Lending Investors, Inc., Romago, Inc., Rudy Project Phils., Sherwood Hills Golf Club and Warbird Security.

Agojo and Lacuña also dominated the field in Group 2, firing 97 and 95 for a 192 total and a 12-point romp over Jun Ramos and Jimmy dela Rosa, who settled for a 180 (91-89) in the event organized by the Manila Southwoods Seniors Chapter headed by president Jose Cedo and vice president Paco Gonzalez.

Tom Alvarez and Owen Lee also ran away with the Group 3 crown with a 162 (78-84), winning by 16 points over the Frankie Flameño-Bonie Vergel de Dios pair, which led in the first round with an 80 but faltered with a 66 for a 146.

Rodrigo Pepito teamed up with Soo Nam Lee to capture the Group 4, Super Senior title with a 118 (64-54).
