MANILA, Philippines - Reigning national champion Clyde Mondilla and Art Arbole matched par 72s to remain tied for the lead after two rounds of the Sabah Amateur Golf Open Championship at the Sabah Golf and Country Club in Kota Kinabalu Saturday.
Mondilla, priming up for his defense of the Phl crown next month at Riviera, and Arbole also carded identical 73s in the opener of the 54-hole tournament as they towed the field with 145s.
Another Filipino, Jobim Carlos, turned in a 76 and stood in third at 150 as the Philippines threatened to sweep the top three placers in the annual tournament.
Local bet Alexander Lau had a 75 for a 153, Paul San shot a 73 for a 154 while Albright Chong stood at 155.
Arbole has been dishing out solid games the past few weeks, scoring a seven-stroke win over Banny Abano in the Mindanao Regional tilt of the National Golf Association of the Philippines before flying to Sabah.
