Fern-C bet bucks mechanical failure, rules slalom
MANILA, Philippines - Two-time national slalom champion Noel Rivera ruled the opening round of the 2011 RMSC National Slalom Championship recently at the Robinson’s Nova Market in Novaliches.
Debuting for the Fern-C racing team, Rivera had to overcome a transmission failure which forced him to take a pit stop halfway in the race. Drawing from his experience and the heroic efforts of his crew, Rivera came back to storm past his rivals and post the fastest time of the day (61.54 seconds), quashing the challenge of
Peewee Mendiola (61.82) and Niño Sarte (63.06). Teammate and current Novice Driver of the Year Milo Rivera completed the Top 5 fastest drivers for the day.
The championship series second round will be held March 27 at the SM-Sucat south parking lot where Rivera hopes to continue his winning streak from last season.
Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the official runs begin at 11 a.m.
Fern-C Racing is also supported by Gulfspeed, G-Motors, Karcraft and Monte Carlo Motors.The National Slalom Grand Prix is sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and FIA.
