CJH Manor, Tanduay split Corp Cup honors
MANILA, Philippines - Camp John Hay Manor put in a pair of solid rounds to dominate Group I while Tanduay romped away with the Group II crown in the 23rd CJH Philippine Corporate Cup at the John Hay Golf Club in Baguio City recently.
Shean Bedi, Thirdy Escaño, Jayson Yu and Goody Ignacio flashed their familiarity with the up-and-down layout and churned out rounds of 144 and 148 Molave points to top the 36-hole tournament with a 292 aggregate, nine points clear off fellow club bet CJH Suites.
Monet Garcia, Freddie Mendoza, Boysie Yñiguez and Tomy Tio rallied CJH Suites with a 151 in the second round for a 283, snatching the runner-up honors in the tournament sponsored by Warbird Security and Investigation Agency, Inc., Le-Chef, Camp John Hay Manor, The Address at Wack Wack, Globe Business and Golforce Inc.
Imarflex Battery Manufacturing Group 4 struggled with a closing 138 and dropped to third with a 282.
CJH Suites’ Garcia, however, took the individual crown in the premier division as he scored a 103 from rounds of 48 and 55. Imarflex’s Alex Ong fired two 53s for a 106 as he took the Group II diadem.
Jung Soon Hak of Corinthians 1440 ruled Group III with an 85 (47-38) and Alfredo dela Peña of Advanced Medical Systems, Inc. copped the Group IV title with an 87 (48-39).
Tanduay, led by Oliver Gan, Lucio Tan Jr., Henson Tan and Willy Tee Teen, strung up rounds of 135-141 for a 276, beating Calamba Doctors Hospital and Rural Bankers, which both had 258s by 18 points for the Group II title.
Toyota Dagupan, bannered by William Co, Elmer Chua, Arvin Ting and Philips Chua, nipped the Era Farm team of Ben Molino, Arcadio Tolentino, Romualdo Tolentino and Raphael Tolentino, by just one point, 235-234, to capture the Group III crown.
Imarflex Redsol Team, composed of Harlan Yu, David Astejada, Paquito Tin and Herbert Magsino, assembled a 219 to take the Group IV plum over Great Companies, which had a 11. Leads Agri placed third with a 202.
