Eight schools vie in Sandugo-CBDL
MANILA, Philippines – Eight schools from the UAAP, NCAA, and other leagues have confirmed their participation in the Sandugo-Collegiate Basketball Development League (CBDL) scheduled to start April 4 at the Rizal Coliseum.
Aimed at providing a new competitive tournament for the training teams or Team B of UAAP, NCAA, and Visayas-based CESAFI league together with the varsity teams of other school leagues, the league’s initial cast is led by Far Eastern University (FEU), University of Sto. Tomas (UST), Adamson University, De La Salle College of St. Benilde, NCRAA champion Colegio de Sta. Monica, Trinity University, Technological Institute of the Philippines ( TIP) and STI.
The organizing LAN Sports and Events is awaiting confirmation from Southville College and St. Claire.
“We believe this new league will help in the development of basketball in the country as training team players get an opportunity to play competitively as a team, the Philippine Sports Commission, through the office of commissioner Chito Loyzaga, has already assured us of support with the use of the Rizal Memorial Coliseum, while Sandugo Sandals has come in as title sponsor,“ said Niño Sinco, event director and president of LAN Sports & Events Inc. Other sponsors of the tournament are Gatorade Thirst Quenchers, Primovit Multivitamins, Cramer Sports and Molten basketballs.
As part of the organizer’s objective of helping collegiate teams, a free seminar on how to plan and conduct team building sessions will be offered to all participating schools’ coaches and athletic directors, and team managers with veteran sports team building workshop facilitator Lito Cinco to do the seminar that will include practical applications on how to shape players’ attitudes and instill team work.
