MANILA, Philippines - Blackwater Elite may not be as deep and strong as the other teams but it hopes to provide its young stars, including Joshua Saret, the chance to polish their skills when it sees action in the PBA D-League which fires off Saturday at The Arena in San Juan City.
Saret will be one of the team’s offensive options after an impressive high school stint highlighted by an 89-point explosion with the Jose Rizal University Light Bombers in 2009.
Saret actually finished with a rare quadruple-double in that game, grabbing 11 rebounds, dishing out 12 assists and posting 13 steals.
In scoring 89 points, the 5-foot-8 playmaker erased the previous record of 82 points set by former teammate Keith Agovida in 2008.
Aside from Saret, Blackwater will also pin its hopes on the Arellano University stalwarts who saw action in the NCAA in the previous season.
They include forward Girio Ciriacruz, Adrian Celada, Ronnel del Rosario, Vergel Angelo Zulueta, Prince Caperal, Gerald Lapuz and Rocky Acidre.
Owned by Dioceldo Sy, the Leo Isaac-mentored squad will also have in its fold Mapua’s Ian Chris Mazo and Jerby del Rosario, Informatic’s Mark Anthony Limpat, STI College’s Cedric Ablaza and Letran’s Jonathan Belorio.
