St. Benilde rules NCAA badmidton dominates
MANILA, Philippines – College of St. Benilde (CSB) dominated the badminton competition, a demonstration sport of the 86th NCAA Season, with wins in the men’s, women’s and junior’s recently at the Powersmash Courts in Pasong Tamo, Makati.
The Blazers dethroned the Generals of Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) in the men’s and women’s tournament, while La Salle Green Hills completed the badminton sweep by winning the junior’s finals against the San Beda Red Cubs.
The Letran Knights placed third in the seven-school tournament hosted by St. Benilde, while the Lady Knights finished third.
Tournament commissioner Dr. Ramon Guerrero commended the athletes, saying: “The talents that showed up in this year’s tournament were really impressive.”
The LSGH Greenies also extended their supremacy in junior’s football after winning over the Arellano Baby Chiefs, 2-0. It was the ninth straight championship for LSGH.
Arellano, a first-timer in the finals, ended San Beda’s run of 14 straight championship stints with a win in the semifinals.
