MANILA, Philippines – Circuit Showdown, the nation’s fastest growing motor racing series, flags off the first of its eight legs on March 5 at the Batangas Racing Circuit.
The series, supported by Rota Wheels, Duro Tires, DKC Tire Center, Richmond Auto Parts, Discovery Suites, Mishimoto, Blox, Recaro, Pitworkz by Hongly, Speedlab, Dynapack, Foil a Car, XYZ Suspension, Z Works Carbon, Runstop Rotors, ECW Performance, Dynamics Suspension, C! Magazine, Turbo Time, Stoplight TV and 99.5 RT, caters to those who want to make their mark in racing. It also supports talented drivers who want to compete in the national series and offers beginners a chance to learn racing in the Circuit Showdown Academy.
Organizers of Circuit Showdown have pulled out the stops for 2011 – the races are set every first Saturday of the month starting in March.
A new format will be followed in the time attack portion of the event, which will now have three brackets where participants can experience wheel-to-wheel racing.
All competitors will earn championship points throughout the series, giving them a chance to win rims, tires, coil-overs and much more. An AMB timing system will provide up to 150 competitors with accurate lap times and faster turn-arounds.
“Everyone is welcome and all one needs to compete are a valid driver’s license and helmet. We are expecting the widest range of cars from Skyline’s to Picantos,” says series organizer and touring and formula car champion Enzo Pastor.
You don’t need a fast car to become a champion as proven by one of the 2010 champions, Allan Arguelles, who topped his class in a 1.3L Nissan Sentra. Anton Cruz, a Genesis owner, says, “CS is okay because Enzo will teach you in practice and one’s relaxed even if he’s a beginner.”
