Philstar.com to stream PBA games live
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Basketball Association has found a new home on the web in philstar.com, the online arm of The STAR Group of Publications.
The PBA struck a deal with philstar.com, allowing the country’s top news website to air PBA games live.
The deal enables the streaming of PBA Fiesta Conference games on www.philstar.com <http://www.philstar.com/> , starting with the double-header at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo Friday. Philstar.com will use Studio 23’s PBA broadcasts.
PBA commissioner Chito Salud said the partnership aims to further broaden PBA’s reach by not limiting the broadcasts of games to just local television and radio.
“The choice of philstar.com as the PBA’s official partner to reach our potential global audience is perfect given the site’s wide reach and high traffic,” Salud said. “Plus, with all the technological developments happening in the world, it is high time for PBA to go a step further in making sure that they are at the forefront of all these advancements.”
“We decided to partner with philstar.com to make PBA games accessible to people on the go and those who are either stuck in their office or on the road wanting to see the games live and in real time,” he added.
For his part, James Lim, philstar.com operations manager, expressed delight over the live streaming feature, branding it as a welcome addition to the news portal’s growing content.
“We are always on the lookout for fresh content. By entering into a license agreement with the PBA, we strengthen our already rich sports section by giving our readers, especially those outside the Philippines, a chance to experience the game. Streaming the PBA Fiesta Conference is another way of uniting the Filipino global community,” Lim said.
Philstar.com’s PBA live streaming feature will be unveiled a few days after the news portal launched its redesigned sports page, which includes a special PBA section.
Visit www.philstar.com/pbalive <http://www.philstar.com/pbalive> during PBA game days to access the live stream. Viewing is free.
