UST in must-win

MANILA, Philippines - University of Santo Tomas battles Ateneo De Manila in an important match in the last game at the elimination round of 73rd University Athletic Association of the Philippines men’s football today at the Erenchun Field inside the Ateneo campus.

The UST Tigers, who currently hold second place with 5-2-2 win-loss-draw card for 17 points, need to win against the Ateneo De Manila Blue Booters at 9 a.m. to formally get the second final spot.

 Ateneo is already out of contention in the finals with no wins, three draws and six losses.

De La Salle University, currently at third place with 4-1-4 win-loss-draw log for 16 points, is hoping that Ateneo will upset UST and then La Salle tries to upset league-leading University of the Philippines in the second game at 1 p.m.

A win by La Salle against UP and an unexpected defeat of UST against Ateneo will officially earn them the second final seat. UP already secured the first final seat and the twice-to-beat advantage after posting a 8-0-1 win-loss-draw with 25 points in the elimination.
